Below was posted on a SD thread re the plan.
Has anyone here done this?
Where do you go to activate as it surely doesn't come with any instructions or web page link?
Could someone share the instructions from the FP package if that has the information?
The reddit forums said that you can buy the GSMT sim card from Redpocket for $5 and not pay $10 for the sim card from Walmart. Just in case if you want to buy this without the $35 requirement from Walmart.
I would be afraid to use the FP SIM. 100MB limit before they start recharging your account in $2 blocks. Can you leave the data OFF on a smart phone and still use talk&text?
There are no automatic charges for the FP Walmart free plan. If the 100MB is used up, data stops working until the cycle renews, or until you manually add a top up.
That would definitely be a good deal, but I think the $2.99 is for the first month only, and that the ongoing price is $15/mo. Also, that's FP GSMA, which is different from the FP Walmart T-Mobile free plan being discussed.
I had something really weird happen. Yesterday, I activated with a port-in on my existing main freedompop account. When I tried to add the MDN to my account, it wouldn't let me because the number was already attached to an existing RedPocket account. I dropped the matter for the time being.
This evening, it hit me that the number had been on the RedPocket annual $30 Sprint tower plan for about two years, until December of last year. Since then, I've been porting the number back and forth among Visible, Xfinity, and Metro. Anyway, after figuring out what my username and password was for that RedPocket account was, voila, I found the line showing as active there.
Does this allow porting in AFTER activation? Meaning, can I activate with a new # and then port in another # a few months later? I am guessing yes but wanted to see if anyone has done that.
It's been perfect for me. I use it as a "backup" when my FreeMii account bumps up against the 1GB limit. I've got Google Voice on both phones, so all my calls and texts come in just fine.
These are perfect for kids smart watches with physical SIMs. My younger daughter had this setup for about a year. The watch broke a month ago. Fortunately, I had an Assurian policy and wound up getting back the amount I paid, in the form of an Amazon eGC. She's now using my free FP plan on a flip phone.
It seems like the FP Walmart exclusive free plan SIM has been going in and out of stock recently. HOPEFULLY, it will come back in stock soon for anyone that wants one!
Well, ported my Fi line to FP just a while back, very fast port! Unfortunately, something wrong the with SIM, so FP sending me a replacement SIM. Sigh ...
