If anyone has a SIM kit they can spare or are willing to part with LMK (I'd cover cost and shipping of course). I need a solution for someone who is on a free year, ending in a few months. They don't have a pot to piss in and could make do with the low use limits of this plan. I don't mind helping them out but looking to minimize costs and having to shell out monthly or annually.

Given that you get unlimited talk and text on TextNow (and sponsored data for ride share announced) , I'd say anyone looking for basic service to just get a TextNow SIM.
Textnow is nice, but it's nice to have both if possible. I do have verification text issues on TextNow. So that's main motivation for that sim.
Also their data is slightly cheaper
If that plan ever comes back, i'll be sure to post here. Surprised it's been OOS for this long.
Thanks for reminding me about this. I fired up my old s10e with the FreedomPop SIM after a few month of it sitting in the drawer. Still seems to work just fine. Fired off a couple of texts and phone calls to stay active, although it doesn't appear to be an issue.
Freedopop plan on Walmart was discontinued in late 2022. It is never coming back.
There however could be a new Freedompop plan as somebody has seen the sim at Target. Apparently, the plan uses the AT&T network and offers 100 minutes, 100 texts, and 100mb per month for free. Price at the Target store was $4.99.
Right now, getting this new plan is unverified as the person could not activate the sim and get the new amount minutes, texts, and data. He could only signup for the old AT&T plan that was essentially worthless.
I think you misread the ad. It says:

Well, confirms that, as you found, it is not shown online.
Follow along as in it might go somewhere since a poster has one and hopefully will persue the "new plan" and report back.

According to the post on HoFo, that's not the same item. But only time will tell exactly what this new FP item is, as more people are able to buy / try it.

I already have a couple of the Walmart 300/1000/100 plans.
A couple reports in that HoFo thread of people successfully activating this new, free, FP GSMA 100/100/100 min./talk/MB plan Target SIM.

Unfortunately, no store near me shows stock.
I tried to exercise restraint when I ordered my ONE SIM kit, BEFORE there was a $35 minimum order requirement for free delivery, and now I wish I would have ordered TWO! Sigh...
Here is the Target link in case someone has the redcard or spends $35 to get free shipping. It does show the 100, 100, 100 plan.
Apparently on this item shipping is only free with a $35 purchase even with a RedCard. Most stores 'near' me either show 1 in stock, limited quantities, or out of stock.
