FreeMii

Left side is a ZTE R2 on Visible, right side is a Pixel 3 on FreeMii Red. FreeMii Red is definitely being throttled.

Interesting. I got got SelectTel as well from 611. Something fishy with Red sim service.

FreeMii did say Red sim is in Beta.

"Another traditional con of Verizon MVNO’s is that in the past Verizon limited the data speeds of its MVNO partners to 5 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload. Fortunately, this restriction seems to have been lifted for a majority of the MVNO’s."

That’s odd considering you’re not allowed to move sim device to device according to freemii ToS. So if this is actually a selectel account how can freemii detect if you are moving sim device to device hhhmm interesting. The same for att blue

My data has been shut off after 9000 MB unfortunately, only talk and text works. I’d wager the same thing would happen for others on FreeMii red. I’m just gonna get a refund for this and try AT&T instead

That's part of what has me still contemplating what to do. I originally asked for Red, which I think I'm glad I didn't get...not because of the throttling and caps and such that some of y'all are experiencing, so much as because based on what I have since gleaned about their process, I think either they'd have to send me a pre-activated SIM or I'd have to activate with an IMEI that isn't actually for a device I have (my phone will work just fine on a Verizon sim, but it isn't on their Blessed List).

However, I run a dual-sim phone, currently with FreeMii blue and TracFone VZW. What I intended to do if I got FreeMii red was see about selling the TF sim and running FreeMii with either FreedomPop or FreeUp as backup (depending on whether I thought I was more likely to need data or minutes somewhere AT&T reached and Verizon didn't - I'd carry both sims, but the one plugged in would, for example, probably be FreeUp during a long drive; FreedomPop while walking around a big park outside the city.

With FreeMii blue, that wouldn't give me multi-carrier coverage. But with Pink...for one thing, I'm not sure what kind of hassles I could expect, and for another I haven't really checked up on T-Mobile's coverage around here (let alone any of the other places I'd be concerned about) since SurgePhone changed things up.

So for now, I'm running FreeMii and Tracfone, and not selling the TF SIM after all. I am still debating whether to try activating the SurgePhone sim for a month and making road trips to the three main parks where I would like to make sure I can get a data connection to test all three networks.

IMO AT&T is better for data. When you sign in to select tel with the vzw red account do you see the account number? I sent Freemii C/S a message asking for the account number for the red vzw account.

@Randomusername69 I'm curious whether your data stopped working at 9000mbps before or after you registered an account on Selectel? To speculate, I imagine FreeMii has a deal with Selectel/Verizon where it somehow registers its Red accounts and pays them whatever while at the same time allowing the Red users unlimited calling and data for the lifetime membership charge. Looking at the overpriced Selectel plans, I'm not sure how FreeMii got the deal, unless Selectel was greatly in need of customers and revenue. Seems FreeMii has a much better deal with AT&T, or let's hope so. Anyway, hope you get your refund or, even better, you are able to just have FreeMii send you a Blue AT&T Sim.

It stopped working before, that’s why I got curious. I also tried calling a number and was automatically routed to customer service which is how I decided on calling 611 and found out. I then contacted Selectel to get info on the plan and they told me to contact Puppy Wireless(lmao?) since that’s where the number is registered.
This is so sketchy lol, definitely not unlimited data for Verizon though so this is just a glorified scam I guess.

Didn't puppy wireless go out of business?

Idk but it seems myfreemii.com and puppy wireless have the same site design.

Ok, so to summarize, Red does work. It takes 4 to 14 days to activate. Presumably does have unlimited talk and text, with VoLTE but no wifi calling; 9gb data, throttled to 5d/2u. And visual voice mail appears to work for iPhone but not Android. Does that sound right? Anything to add, like maybe coverage/no coverage in Verizon roaming agreement locations?

Can anyone summarize Blue? (Pink too, but I haven't seen anyone post about Pink experience yet )

Personally, I'm leaning now towards switching to Blue. AT&T has been mostly great for me for over a decade, but Verizon is great in my area too and I wanted to try Red.

That’s is interesting puppy has puppies and freemii has Sims and phone screens Although freemii C/S said there’s no customer portal login.right now, it’s is coming soon.

Thanks for the above. I'm not sure one can deduce from one user of the Red sim that all users of the Verizon sim will be limited to 9 GB of data per month or for whatever time period, as it could have been a one off event or caused by some other unknown event. Also, as I've suggested before, the Verizon service in Beta means it's not perfected yet, assuming it will be of course. And the throttled data should have been mentioned, though, know that it's known, I suspect some people would be satisfied with the speeds on an unlimited lifetime plan. Hopefully, FreeMii will provide some info about the capped 5down and 2up Red speeds.

As for the AT&T sim, what the users on this thread have said and not said points to a solid thumbs up. My up and down speeds are pleasing to me and maybe others using the Blue sim will report their speeds as well. I have not experienced any problems with calling or any other phone feature while on the AT&T sim, so not much to report from my end.

CS told me that there was no limit. 22gb and over and you will be slowed down.

They didn't answer me directly about a 5Mbps/2Mbps download/upload cap but did say that you should expect 480p youtube video at a minimum which isn't saying much.

They also said they can do a network swap if you are having issues.

As for Pink (tmobile) someone on reddit said theirs activated right away so seems like verizon is the one causing all the issues.

Still haven't decided whether to give this a go. I really want some kind of tethering.

I have 1 each network att blue vzw red as typical the att blue has better data speeds then the red. Although I do have till mid December to cancel and get refund I’ll want to port out the number 1st. Waiting on getting account number and pin for the vzw red

I did see in an older review of Selectel service that they were (are?) one of the few Verizon MVNOs that had roaming. No guarantee, of course-- but at least a reasonable possibility.

FYI after the 9 Gb shut off I cannot even call or text not sure if i made that clear. I personally would not recommend anyone their red service.

I contacted support and got the exact same response as mmface did by probably their only support rep (monika). I requested pink, we shall see what happens.

Verizon isn’t unlimited tho, there is no way they got unlimited from an old mvno that still adheres to 5 Mbps cap and has no unlimited offering. 9000 mb cap for sure, anyone with red feel free to try.

Pretty accurate. I’d be interested in pink and blue summaries as well. From what i can tell AT&T is their main deal, I don’t know why they bother with Verizon given it’s so bad. Could do with the free month activation on Selectel, I don’t know. I might try AT&T and test it and see what QCI level it’s at and if there is a priority amount of data(text message when going over 16.5 gb of data or later)

Is there an app (or other method) that allows you to "easily" identify the network QCI without having a rooted phone?
