FreeMii

I did not port.

Hey so I just got activated on Verizon but it seems I’m capped at 5 Mbps down and 2 Mbps upload. Looking at sblake5’s comments, they might have the same thing.

I know I’m capped because I have Verizon postpaid and visible and they’re all pulling around 60-70 mbps. Plus when i run a Speedtest on freemii Verizon, it shoots up and then abruptly goes down towards 4.5-5 mbps down every time. Think I should’ve gotten at&t :frowning:

I thought the Verizon speeds that sblake5 reported were rather slow, although he said he got similar speeds with his other Verizon account. The capped speeds may be the result of the deal FreeMii made with Verizon, but FreeMii would have done well to inform users of this capped data feature. In any case, the possibly capped speeds are still pretty good for unlimited data on a lifetime plan.

How long did your Verizon activation take?

New message from customer service expects that my port will go through today. fingers crossed

According to the website activations occur between 6pm and 12 midnight eastern. Keep us posted when you get activated.

Surprisingly quick. I submitted activation on the afternoon of the 26th and was activated around when I posted my comment here.

Yeah I get the capped speed, but they should’ve made clear of that. I did pay $180 after all and that would’ve gotten me almost a year or so of service from visible after rebates and party pay so right now this doesn’t seem to be a good choice. Especially since we have no clue how long this’ll last.

By the way, on AT&T is fast.com slower for you? Like do they throttle video?

@Randomusername69

EDIT: I messed up on the below speeds by forgetting to turn off wifi, so new speeds are: about 20 down and 22 up on speedtest.com and 4.1 down and 6 up on fast.com. Odd that there is such a difference between the two given they are about the same over wifi. As someone I think mentioned, the difference may have to do with fast.com's connection to Netflix. Still odd, though.

Just tested and Fast.com and speedtest.com are about the same----37 down and 11up on the latter and 40 down and 10 up on fast.com. Where I live, AT&T appears to consistently have the better data speeds than Verizon.

Same here, the only reason I didn’t get FreeMii AT&T to begin with was because I already have the $20 unlimited AT&T iPad plan which I won’t cancel. My main phone is on sprint/T-Mobile. This way I would’ve had all 4 carriers with me lol.

I contacted their customer service and they said there is a network issue causing the slow speeds. Not sure what to make of that.

See my goof and edit to my post above.

Based on all the recent reports that Red is being speed capped, I emailed customer support to see if they could just switch need to Blue rather than complete the Red activation. A few hours later I got the email that is finally been activated (yes, on Red).

I can't tell if I'm getting speed capped or not. Both Red and my Visible phone are showing 4mb down and up at the moment, which is actually typical at the house (I'm pretty far from the tower). I'll ran another speed test later and/or tomorrow while I'm in town and speeds should be much better (if not being throttled).

Here are the features that work on the Red sim on my unlocked Pixel 3 (Verizon):

VoLTE (Advanced calling in the settings): Yes
WiFi Calling: No (setting not there)
Voice Mail: Yes
Visual Voice Mail: No (contact customer service to activate, Verizon doesn't recognize the number as theirs)
Hot Spot: No (can turn on, but no internet. Message to contact customer service)

If there's any other setting/feature anyone is interested in, let me know.

Same experience here on an iPhone 8, except visual voicemail works. I’d be curious to know if WiFi calling works for AT&T.

Wifi calling is provisioned on my ZTE Blade 10 phone with the AT&T sim.

Updated from post # 48494 on Monday 9/28/20

I received the Email today Monday 9/28/20 saying my port in activation has ported successfully. It also says it takes osp 15 min to 72 hours to release the number . I am porting in from google voice, hoping it’s complete by this Thursday 10/1/20 usually there’s no issues on gv releasing the number it’s voip takes longer to process I’ll update when the port is truly completed

Update # 2.
I am now completely activated my number is ported I’m good to go took only 5 days for the vzw sim to be activated. Now my next membership will be data hotspot when ever freemii starts that up. We shall see.

I said the they were both slow at home. It has to be the hilly area we live in as my sister a couple of miles away reports the same thing. I pull 55-65 elsewhere on my regular Verizon account. I haven't yet tested FreeMii red away from home.

What speeds you getting on FreeMii Verizon?

My speed was around 3.2 to 3.5 up and same for down I have screen shot haven’t figured out how to post on here

My data Just stopped working, is yours still working?

Huh, calling 611 gets me to Selectel wireless customer support, and sure enough i was able to register an account on there with the phone number. Shows activation date and my imei. Selectel is some old Verizon mvno which explains the 5 Mbps cap. My data shut off at 9000 MB looking at the site so I assume that’s all there is. I was trying to see what would happen if I went over 20 GB but I didn’t get that far.
If on android you can download the app and just login with your phone number.

Isamorph can you call 611 and see what happens for AT&T?

Called 611and get "Welcome to AT&T--How can I help you today"

FWIW: I'd be careful trying to see what happens if one goes over 20 GBs in no time given such usage might be considered abuse or improper use by FreeMii's TOS.

From FreeMii Disclosers "Generally, during periods of high volume traffic FreeMii supported networks may deprioritize your connectivity after your consumption of approximately 20G of data. FreeMii also reserves the right to monitor, suspend, terminate, or otherwise alter the availability of data and wireless connectivity for those members who excessively consume or abuse consumption of wireless services. The use of the term “Unlimited” in our site or other digital collateral or marketing materials shall NOT be construed or interpreted as Unreasonable use."
