Obviously the first priority is to get through this migration fiasco (disaster? unpleasantness? interruption?) as quickly as possible. FreeMii is taking the steps that they can to mitigate the impact by offering temporary Pink sims, which we appreciate. We also appreciate the periodic updates. We all hope this is finally resolved sooner rather than later.
After everyone is back up and running, it will be time for FreeMii to offer it's members a gesture of thanks for sticking with them. A typical cellphone carrier would probably offer a credit on the next billing statement for lost service. But FreeMii isn't a typical cellphone carrier, and a credit isn't really even an option for your early adopters who have a paid in full lifetime membership already. So what could you do? Let's ask the forum!
I'll start with a couple ideas I had:
Offer a free or deeply discounted upgrade path for the new services you stated would be rolling out this year such as datapro and datapro+.
Free sim swap credit for our next phone upgrade. (Obviously we'd all rather just move our sim cards to a new phone, but as long as a new card is required, it should be free.)
Does anyone else have ideas on what FreeMii could do to "make things right"? Keep in mind they don't have to do anything, so let's keep the ideas reasonable/proportional.
I'm happy as long as they get things back to normal. Pink SIM doesn't help me, as there is no coverage here, but I'm OK as I use Google Voice as my number, so I just added my wife's phone to my Google Voice list. Of course, I wouldn't turn down a free swap in the future. I am hoping things get completed by Friday, though, as I need my regular phone for music streaming on a trip.
I am curious, though, about this migration. What does it achieve? I don't see any other VMNO's going through this.
Most MVNOs are very thinly staffed in the tech department, with a lot of the normal processes being largely automated, and the manual process needs spread out across time. When something comes up that means a lot of lines have to be juggled simultaneously...
My guess, and it's only a guess, is that the FreeMii Blue lines may have been set up on a common business account. 'Migrating' lines set up this way might require some extra steps, since each line needs to be removed from the common business account as it is set up on another account, and the process needs to be coordinated across multiple entities. Even if FreeMii is moving from one MVNE (middle-man enabler/wholesaler) to another MVNE, the process may be limited by how many lines staff can work through in a day, and the need to coordinate each line across at least 2 tech departments. .
Yeah, I just changed my mind and did a temp activate on Pink so I'd have my phone for a trip out of town tomorrow. TMo sucks where I live, but it's ok once I'm off the mountain.
This has nothing to do with the migration but I am happy to report that my upgraded pink line/data plus with the 20gb limit rather than 10gb is working as it should. No breaks in service and currently at 16gb for the month. Hopefuly the issues of 2021 are in the past.
Still waiting. But pink is working ok. Their 4g at my house sucks. But I have the 5g home tmo router and actually get good speeds, between 25 and 100 mpbs. Does pink have 5g? (My current phone is 4g only.)
Does your phone have bands 66 and 71? Newer phones will generally have 66 and likely have 71 (last 2-3 years), but depending on the age of the phone, it is possible it has neither 66 or 71. If you don't and have another phone with those bands, try that to see if you get better coverage with TMobile.
Pixel 4a. Pretty sure it's got all the 4g bands including the special tmo ones. Right now I don't see much point of upgrading as long as FreeMii is 4g only.
