FreedomPop Free Monthly plan back at Target

BooHoo.
Site is still broken & plan expired already.

According to PrepaidCompare, FreedomPop has a total of 700.0000 subscribers.
I wonder how many of them are on a free plan?

AND...
Is this most recent batch of hassles their way to 'encourage' free plan users to pay monthly instead ?!?

Oh, I have a routine now. I use FredomPop chat. I have a word document that I prepared with what I need to tell them so that they can manually renew my accounts. I just cut and paste into the chat. Takes less than 5 minutes.

Care to share (leaving off personal details)?
Or PM it to me
So I can use it as a template.
TIA

Pretty simple. I copy/paste these when and if the ask for them and add the personal details as needed.

Thanks.
I was wondering if you just dumped the whole script on them at once but I guess not, just pieces as they ask.

Reports of people being requested to send screen record. One time I was asked I just said I couldn't or didn't know how to do that.

Thanks much for the "script" sblake5. It will be of great help to me as I have 4 lines coming up for renewal in quick succession. (and thanks to Redrotors for requesting that it be posted)

I guess you could just dump the whole thing at once. I haven't tried it that way but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Just renewed a plan on Chat. Took less than 5 minutes (using their website and not the app.)

I led with (cut and pasted) line from sblake5's script; "I am unable to renew my account due to an error I receive when attempting to do so. This is an ongoing issue that FreedomPop is aware of"

They then asked only 3 simple questions:

  1. Phone make and model
  2. Android version
  3. Phone number

For FP Walmart GSMT 300/1000/100 plan -
Renewal today via app failed, error msg.
Confirmed phone # and as SeanW was asked phone make/model & Android version.

I don't know if they want the phone info for the phone service is on or the phone the app/renewal attempt is on.
They are not the same for me. Probably doesn't really matter?? I didn't ask.
I gave them the info. for the phone I had in hand, attempted the renewal on. Done in a few min.
ETA: did this over chat.

Can confirm that turning port blocker off failed even though I did receive the 2FA codes, figured I'd try and see since it was mentioned/discussed One had to get CS involved.

Forgot to renew, just tried renewing in app, getting Error code 8579301. Guess will try again tomorrow.

you should call them on the phone. I had to do that 3 weeks ago.

Or open a chat with them.

Online chat the and agent renewed the free plan for me.

Upon further contemplation I've decided to let all my FreedomPop lines lapse.
I harbor no hard feelings towards FreedomPop at all. I understood from day one what I was getting into.

I actually am a bit embarrassed that I have spent this much time chasing free stuff.

To paraphrase Cassius : "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in FreedomPop, but......

I might let mine lapse next month too. It's just too much work for a free line that I don't use. Just have to make sure I don't have any acct using this line for 2FA first.

My TextNow SIM lapsed also but I do use the app number for stuff like Craigslist. Still a hassle to send msg every few days to retain the number but not as annoying as Freedompop, IMHO.

I've read that some claim that if you port a # into a TextNow free plan that it won't get expired "ever". That ported in #'s are treated differently than #'s that are generated by text now when you activate with them w/o porting in a #.
Can anyone speak to this?

All these lapsing lines --
Looks like FP wins

I don't know how FP would win either way. Staying on, the get the subscription number and app tracking on our devices at minimal marginal cost. Canceling our acct, not sure FP would save much, if anything, and lose out on whatever they are doing with our data.
