FreedomPop Free Monthly plan back at Target

WalMart GSMT - Never had an issue until now.

I just got a similar response trying to renew GSMT.

If they don't resolve this soon, I can see some lines being terminated after lapsing too long.

"Luis" seems to be least cooperative customer rep Freedompop. Might as well disconnect from chat and try again later on if his name pops up.

Like others here, I would not be shocked if the demise of the free GSMT and GSMA plans happen sooner rather than later. That is why I signed up for the Helium Mobile Zero Plan. Apparently, it is common now for users to pass ID verification without the need to give them an ID or selfie. All the info needed in my case was a name, address, and date of birth.

I signed up last week when Helium was offering $30 in points. Should anybody wish to signup with Helium in the near future, wait until Helium offers an incentive. Perhaps there will some incentive during this upcoming Memorial Day weekend???

Anyway, my strategy is to have Helium issue me a new number now. Since Helium permits porting in a number after activation, I expect that my Freedompop number will one day be ported to Helium.

There is zero TMobile anyplace near us & since we now live in an AT&T only area, we have a 100% free gov phone & another on US Mobile.

As I see it - fp is now trying to get rid of the free users who haven't been cajoled into paying them by the various hassles.

My fp line is due for renewal ~5/30 so that may be when fp is finally over for me.

Good idea! I should switch services tied to the FP phone number to another number.

Was just chatting with Sonia...still no progress. She says it's, "a technical issue with GSMT accounts." Losing hope here.

Maybe a bit harsh - but since fp has shown a strong talent for screwing things up over the years...
I'm actually expecting this to just be another screw-up whereby the free users get rejected.

Thanks JVV for sharing this important info about Helium:

"Apparently, it is common now for users to pass ID verification without the need to give them an ID or selfie. All the info needed in my case was a name, address, and date of birth".

I signed up today and it was quick and easy. Just had to give them my name address and age.

Same here. My only disappointment was that it won't work on my Moto Z3 because the Android version is too old. Not a huge deal, I've got my trusty Pixel 3. Just waiting for the SIM now.

Well, I reached out again about renewing the GSMT plan. I said it looked like FP was abandoning the plan, and this was the reply:

Dennis, I assure you we still support free plan under our GSMT network. It's just that we're still resolving the issue we're experiencing with manually renewing our GSMT free plan.

I'm doubtful, but we'll see.

When I chatted with FP about 1 month ago, they said that their audit indicated I had more than one line in the household, and therefore was against their policies, and they will not renew my line. I told them that was not the policy when I bought the SIMs, but that was not pursuasive. I have finally given up on FP, except hoping that the SIMs work for 911.

11 posts were split to a new topic: Ported to Helium

So FP had 'issues' using the app to renew.
Now FP has 'issues' manually renewing?
Seems to be getting worse.

Just renewed two Target GSMA lines through chat (both with Sonia) with no issues.

This all shows me how glad I am that my fp line is so unimportant to me.

'Importance' or lack thereof is relative. I spend 5 to 10 minutes pre month on this. That leaves an incredibly vast amount of time to do other things during the month.

Why I abandoned my FreedomPop lines months ago:

It wasn't the nonsensical 10 to 20 minutes I had to spend each month on Chat to renew my free plans ....it was the realization that I found myself pleading for what were essentially crumbs on the table.

Crumbs which cost you nothing.......

Correct, pleading for Crumbs which cost nothing (unless one puts a value on having to plead).
.

As I said earlier, when I get tired of the FP game, I'll let it go and not miss it. Just curious, is yours GSMT or GSMA?
