Earning CellNUVO Points

I just installed the CellNUVO app on my $49 Kindle Fire.

Works flawlessly.

I'm earning silver for my Tribute HD without any eyestrain.

That is great news.

So it seem like the process for an iPhone would be:

  1. activate with either an Android phone or cellular tablet

  2. contact CellNUVO to swap the MEID and ICCID to those of the iPhone

  3. then continue to run the app on the Android phone or instead on an Android wifi only device--presumably generating a new code in the process.

Does this sound correct?

yes correct

Sounds correct to me, oldbooks1.

Do chase up your missing points from the offer list. I've successfully been awarded points twice that were not credited automatically. A pain I know but at least they do review them after you send in an explanation/some evidence (eg a screenshot of the last page of a slideshow for example)

Since a number of members have managed to accumulate very large numbers of credits, I was wondering if there is any consensus on the best way to go about earning them.

For instance, do we know where the best effort/reward ratio is in terms of time spent?

Is it better to focus on one thing--swiping for adds, etc--or is one better off trying different things?

Are some times of the day better than others?

Are there any indications on what one might think of as an 'average' number of credits for 1 hour of effort?

I think that they do well to make sure there is no real pattern from one phone to the next. X reports seeing a 5 minute ad, Y reports never getting any of the old 30 credit ads, Z reports a dry spell but A is getting ad after ad etc. Chelle finds that if she clears the cache ads this helps with ad flow but that never seems to do much difference for mine.

I do think though that the best way to get points is simply to swipe. Forget the offer list (though there are a few easy ones like viewing a slideshow of 10 photos that credit well). Surveys are okay if you have the patience to go through multiple rejections and are the kind of person they are looking for. I've had 3 surveys credit and made about 1000 silver from them. Took me no more than half an hour in total which was decent.

I do think one can determine for their own phone what works best in terms of time of day. But it is all YMMV in my opinion. You can even vary what ads you receive depending on what version you have loaded.

Not sure about averages. I find if I am swiping more than 5 times before ads are coming through then it is time to put the phone down.

My goal is 1000 points per day, if I don't have to jump through hoops to get it. If they're flowing free and easy I might reach for 2000. If not, I'll pound my way to 500 and move on.

The triple-swipe method doesn't work with the latest app but swiping continuously, 1-2 times per second until an ad comes up, does seem to work.

I suspect that most of the things we do are like the superstitions that baseball players follow, before they take a turn with the bat. Kick the dirt two times, grab your private area one time, take two fake swings, and scowl at the pitcher guy.

If I hit a dry spell (roughly 30-50 swipes without an ad) I clear the cache, force close the app, and reset my advertising ID. If I don't see an ad in another 30-50 swipes then I give up until later in the day.

Sometimes I can push through a dry spell, with enough swipes, and will suddenly start seeing lots of ads. When that happens I just go until I hit the next dry spell and put it away.

That's my system, such as it is. I never devote undivided time to it. It's something I do while watching TV or stirring a sauce or some other mindless activity.

Thanks mmfacemm and Chelle for the helpful information and tips.

I think this would work very well for me and imagine most months probably 12-15,000 credits would more than cover my needs.

That would only mean earning 500 or so a day and if 1,000 is what Chelle can do comfortably then it really seems like the math works.

Am I correct in understanding how a need for extra data above-accumulated credits would work is as follows:

Let's say I need for some unusual reason to consume close to 1GB suddenly for which I do not have earned credits.

Can I not simply buy the Flex Plan for that month at $19 which provides 18,000 credits or some 0.9 GB and then go back to the Infinite Plan afterward?

I very rarely need much cellular data but would like to know how it works if I am somewhere without wifi and need data urgently.

You can actually purchase 9000 silver for $10 now within the app or when you log in on the website. This is a one off fee. Works out at 2.2c a MB which is fairly reasonable. Silver rolls over from month to month as long as you earn 1 silver a month. So that is a nice safety net in case you need extra.

The flex plan apparently works by only charging you for a month if you have less than 18,000 credits when your billing period renews. So you could also just be on that plan and if you are low it will top you up automatically for any low month. I wouldn't bother with it though.

Isn't it a month, not a day?

Did I say a day? oops I meant a month

No need to ever mess with the Flex plan. If you need to burn more credits than you have, for any reason, you can top up for $10 (9000 credits) which will buy 450MB.

And, has been stated, everything rolls, from month to month, so you can always "bank" credits for the future. I've got 90,000 built up, for a rainy day.

I've never hit a day where I couldn't earn 500 credits relatively painlessly. Some days it takes 15 minutes of TV, other days it takes an hour. Pretty achievable, in any case.

As a data point I made 270 silver in the past 5 minutes.

I honestly must be in a bad location or bad advertising group as I don't even come close to 1000 silver in a day. I've been tracking on a spreadsheet and I probably barely earn about the same amount of "minutes" after they increased the rate. They did seem to get rid of the long 5 minute ad for me, but from what I've seen I can maybe earn ~200 silver/day on average depending on how the ads flow. Now I will admit, I am not spending hours a day on this, maybe only an hour total (few minutes here and there throughout the day). However, my phone usage is so low that this works for me since I only make a few calls a month and usually less than 10 minutes each time.

Chelle, how you installed app on tablet? In my LG tablet, it says app not for your device.
Thanks!

Thanks to Chelle's astute understanding of the virtues of being frugal, I am now set up with a comprehensive communication plan for very little money. Here is the breakdown:
Nexus 5 on Tello "unlimited plan" and this phone is used to earn silver on CellNuvo
ZTE Force set up on CellNuvo (44000 points)
Iphone 4s (AT&T) set up on FreedomPop GSM LTE with a Truphone sim taped to the inside of the case for easy swap out access.

Total Cost------- apx. 11 bucks a month! From one frugal person to another, Thank you Chelle!!

Yes it is very much YMMV. It even differs depending on which phone you use. I have one phone that is excellent for ads and the other is average at best. Yet the average phone has access to the surveys and the other does not. I really don't know what algorithms they are using but they baffle me.

I have sent in a request to switch one account to an iphone 4s. So looks like I will be the guinea pig for the iphone test.

It's fun to be cheap!

You have to sideload it, but I put it on my cloud drive if you want an easier way.
