CellNUVO

I think this is an astute analogy. My main personal phone is back on Verizon, even though work provides me an iPhone (fully paid for). In trying out CellNUVO, it has taken me way too much time to earn credits. Adding a line to my Verizon family share plan basically adds $25 to my monthly bill. For that I get unlimited talk and text, and I can share in the data pool. So, how much time do I have to spend on CellNUVO to get enough credits for unlimited talk and text plus some data? Too much...and with too much frustration for all the empty swipes and wasted time when no ads are available. To date, I see ads for 10-15 credits a few times a day. I see 5 point adson and off all day. 2000 points added in a week, and the only thing I have really learned is that I would rather pay Verizon than keep playing this game. Right now, the balance is way off. Too little reward for too much effort. That's my 2 cents. Maybe if they get more ads at higher values, this will be viable. Right now, it's not even much fun...I will keep my one android here and check on it once in a while, simply because I have nothing better to do with the phone. But for now, this is purely a speculative play with possible future benefits. Good luck CellNUVO. I am rooting for you.

I've been reading all the posts but haven't responded in a while

So let's address some questions

Credits don't expire

You need to earn only one per month (changed based on your feedback)

We added activation code generation to user dashboard (changed based on your feedback)

We are updating our app to include a boatload more credit earning opportunities (we had planned this already but we expedited the dev and testing based on your feedback)

We are dealing with some porting issues that our beyond our control - hopefully we will see those all pop shortly

I'm now getting every single supppirt email that is sent from us or received to our support line to monitor our support team. I'm monitoring our support queue as much as humanely possible. I'm jumping in and helping to clear any backlog that does occur - if you have an issue feel free to email me and I'll get back to you. Tom@cellnuvo.com

We have a really awesome announcement that's coming soon (tomorrow is the plan, but legal review ....).

You folks are really awesome. Keep giving us the feedback, we like it, we want it, your input makes our service better and keeps you from having to pay a cell bill.

As always support@cellnuvo.com for support issues. If you have an idea comment question concern want to schedule that beef sandwich with me tom@cellnuvo.com

Thanks
Tom Mannix

Here's what we see - people use our service then their behaviors change. They do things a bit different. More wifi usage for example. Then they earn credits that is inline with their usage. Our goal is to have everyone spend 1 minute a day to get free service. Some people need more some less. Our new update should really ramp up credit earning opportunities

We are on that new network

Pew- you're right. It was a problem

We needed to get some info over the air to get the device set up. We built out our service side of things thinking this would be quick. And it was really quick, then we got flooded with refugees. We saw this as an issue (thanks to feedback here and through support ) and we have tweaked some things in the latest coming soon update so we won't see that issue again

I appreciate the constructive criticism you offered

Our website was wrong. We missed it. You caught it.

We screwed up. No excuses

The thank you messages were from some of our ad partners but were phased out, we didn't update the copy on our website to reflect the changes made by the dev team (now looking for someone to review copy on our website since we clearly dropped the ball)

Once we changed the back end regarding the thank you messages we were able to provide some much better credit earning opportunities, so all in it's a net gain for you.

The website should have been updated, it wasn't, that buck stops at my desk.

Ja

Right now you can't. Dev team is looking into how we can implement this.

A couple of crazy (?) or outrageous (?) ideas for the Cellnuvo folks - perhaps for some time when you are maybe able to catch your breath, that is, after all the mania of the RP ending:

  • C7recycle sells quite a selection of devices that can only be used via wifi for whatever reason, but are otherwise perfectly good & several of our devices came from there;
It would be great (for us users & for Cellnuvo also) if there was some way to use Cellnuvo 100% via a wifi-only device rather than needing a live cellular channel.

  • Lots of folks have at some time gotten into Tracfone devices & services only to realize that those were not really what they wanted, and then they've moved on to some other device(s) & services that suited them better.
Therefore there are many unused, non-activated Tracfone devices just sitting around waiting for some clever re-use.
We have 2 in our house right now - one is a fancy alarm clock, the other sits on my desktop as a Wifi SIP phone.
T'would be great if there was a way for you folks to help former Tracfone users reuse their idle/orphaned devices, yes ??

  • Tablets...perhaps a way to access our Cellnuvo accounts to gain points via tablet ?? I think that would be very cool !!

  • Last but not least (for us older folks who still enjoy our PCs...) - access to gaining points via browser on the PC somehow ?? I'd do that too if it becomes possible sometime.

Just some thoughts though - not expecting any lightning flashes or miracles - just aiming some positive energy towards Cellnuvo, which I appreciate & already like very much on the single cellular phone that I use it on.

In closing here I do have a question:

If I were to install the Cellnuvo app into another Andoid phone I have, log in using my exisiting credentials and start that instance using an activation code from your site - would it work correctly ??

Thanks.

I haven't come aboard, yet, @tomcellnuvo, but I've been watching from a distance.

The math still favors the house a bit more than I like, but I appreciate what you're doing and I like that you're continuously making improvements.

I have some friends with very low fixed incomes and I'm anxiously waiting for that tipping point when I feel comfortable suggesting that they make the leap to CellNuvo. Keep up the good work!

Any plans for gsm service any time soon?

Tethering is still not working for me (support was working on it?) but no hurry. I'll drop support an email about it.

I'm building up points which is great! Might be ready for my main line if this app update works out.

Thanks

What is the email to request to turn on Tethering please

Actually, between these two options, I would focus on the web-based way to earn credits. Because, if that can be accomplished, then it doesn't matter which device you use to access said webpage. (Which means iOS, Android, Tablets, computers, would all be able to access it.) If I could access a way to earn credits whatever device I happen to have with me at a given point in time, then it would make Cellnuvo a much more appealing option to me. //plink, plink//

I'm thinking about moving two friends to CellNuvo, this afternoon. They have very low income and I've been paying for their lines at RingPlus.

Are you required to have a credit card on file at CellNuvo?

I'm hoping to sign them up for the Infinity plan, use my credit card to buy them some credits to get them started, and then remove my credit card and turn them loose.

Is that possible?

So I am using Twigby as a free month... during this time I am banking some credits on CellNuvo. At this time I have earned 11975 credits + 2500 to start and used 31 credits. My total right now is 14444 or 1444 mins in about two weeks. I have only watched 5, 10, and 15 credits ads. I think last week maybe downloaded a few games... but that is minimal. If I can get 20000 banked by the end of the months, I'll be good to go for my low usage.... paired with FP LTE data sims... Golden!

Chelle, you definitely need to enter a debit or credit card's info to sign up even if you choose Infinity. I'm logged in and there does NOT appear to be a way to remove your Current Payment Method nor change it. My guess is removal would require adding a new one, and that you'd have to call their 800 number.

My experience so far is pretty good. I ported my ringplus number over and I had to do two things that were kinda counter to their email instructions...

  1. Wait for the email that says "We received notice from your previous carrier indicating they released your number" before you attempt a profile update etc.

  2. If a profile update via your phone's Settings menu fails, then use your phone's Dialer to "call" ##72786# and have your MSL handy (ringplus' Dashboard will show it to you).

If you have slow wifi, it appears as if the app can't generate the things that can earn you credits FWIW.

Does not appear that anyone has sufficiently answered your question. Hopefully Tom@cellnuvo.com will show up again on this forum with the final answer.

@Classical_Music, how are you seeing ads? Whenever I go into the CellNuvo app, I get the thank you rewards and then a screen that shows surveys I can take, services I can buy, or apps I can download, install, and run in order to earn credits.

Thanks.

Thank you for the replies!

I got one person ported over. It only took 30 minutes. She's trying to use the app to earn credits and is getting an Error 15. Does anyone know what that is? Maybe the system is still getting sorted out from a fresh port.

I got that at 1st as well.

Check the account at their site, restart the phone if it shows there as activated - try again.

If it still persists, that phone may need PRL & profile updating - try again - may be OK, or:
If a profile update via the phone's Settings fails, then use the dialer=> ##72786# and have that phone's MSL ready.

Good luck

Thanks!
