What's your backup plan in case CellNUVO goes bust?

I have been trying to port my number to TextNOW for the last two months.

I'm thinking about switching to Tello. Not much patience left. Would I be able to port out my number without much trouble??

According to this yes, it should be easy.

Very easy to port to Tello, that is where my numbers went back to.

I ported to Google Voice just fine. I used the RedPocket chat to get my account number and PIN.

If you have your number back with redpocket it is easy to port out.

If you have a temp number you are stuck until the original is recovered.

You can add one more to the None/Not needed column ---my Cellnuvo phone was already a backup phone to another backup phone. I had a spare $15 Kyocera phone that I signed up on Cellnuvo out of curiosity to see how the free service worked, and at the beginning I was impressed, not imagining the strange journey that led to now. It's been interesting.

Updated for Isamorph's response:

Already moved or using backup:

Tello - 1
H2O - 1
FreedomPop - 1
Xfinity - 1 (2 lines moved)

Stated they would move to:

FreedomPop 1
RedPocket 1
Tello 2

Other Responses:

None - not needed - 2
None - CN not releasing phone number for 2 months - 1

Did I mention I got my old number back. No longer temp 331

For me it is Simple.

Either this was a mishap and will be fixed

Or

This is the new normal.

If later I can not see Cellnuvo being able to weather this

So I hope they get things fixed by Christmas

Thank you everyone. I do have my original number and am glad to hear it will be easy to port out to Tello. Part of me wants to wait out and see if CN will get things together and part of me is getting weary of uncertainty...

You have all helped me thus far and I'm very grateful that you are all so willing to help!

Thanks for letting others know it is still available. I have been with the free Sprint plan for months.

I didn't see anybody mention TPO. Would they be a good backup?

My current backup plan:

Dual-sim phone. sim 1: FreedomPop Global data-only. sim 2: T-Mobile...I have one still on their legacy prepaid plan from back when it was possible not to get charged credit except for actual use, and gold status which means topping up my credit extends its expiration to a year, and at my level of usage I'm a long way from needing to top up more than $10 a year.

...That's actually what I'm using now. My CellNuvo phone is sitting idle. If people start having success with both the GSM switch and the 5 gold top-up (from what I've seen, so far both have been done successfully, but not on the same line), I plan on switching my CellNuvo over to GSMT to replace the T-Mobile legacy prepaid.

I'm an odd case though, because the only coverage my dual-sim phone can get in the US is T-Mobile Edge...and I'm okay with that. (Okay, it does have LTE Band 5 but as far as I can tell no carrier both has that band in my area and would allow BYOD with this thing.)
