What is this Freedompop item Walmart is Selling?

Mine auto-renewed without a CC payment needed

Was this your first renewal? Mine had a card and did not auto-renew after the first month.

Hi does anyone have multiple walmart freedompop SIMs and can they be activated under one account? Or do you have to have one account per SIM? Thxs

I have 2 Walmart Freedompop SIMs under 1 account. I guess can add more also, but I didn't try it yet.

Is there an advantage to a multi-line account, other than only having to log in once to manually renew both lines? (Assuming the renewal date is the same.)

Got my Walmart FreedomPop SIM yesterday. T-mobile 300min 1000 text and 100mb Installation went ok with a few issues along the way. After I activated the sim and reboot the phone it auto installed the APN. Then on the website I went to check the manual APN settings and they were different and wrong than what was auto installed. The Manuel APN had ATT info. Turns out the auto installed APN was correct. Also it seems you can't delete the auto installed one either. As far as the Credit card goes, I did not enter one for setup and everything works fine. But my understanding is once you manually renew each month (which the website says for free plans is a must) you then need to enter a card. I think this has to do with the free plans offering you top ups if you run out for 2-5 bucks. To do that they need a credit card. Also it does come with voicemail. Press 123 to check voicemail. Hope this helps someone...

Thanks, Frasier1! I just got my SIM a couple of days ago, but haven't had a chance to activate it yet. Sounds simple enough, and I hope mine goes as smoothly.

Got my SIM installed in my little PVG-100 Palm. Installation was easy, I can make and receive calls, although the TMo signal sucks here at my house. But, I can't send SMS (I can receive them), and can't access internet off wifi. I've got 2 APN choices, TMobile US, and T-Mobile US 240. Doesn't seem to matter which I use. Sent email to FP Support, but, surprise, no response so far. Any Ideas?

I'll have to check again next month, but for my only plan currently, it looks like it auto-renews the day after plan expiration, with a one-day gap in between.

Do you mean one day with NO service until it auto-renews?

I just tried activating a second sim - but getting an error:
Error! Activation Error Sorry the ZIP code used is not part of our coverage area. Pls try another ZIP code or you may call customer Service at 1-888-993-3888 for assistance transactionId TransactionID :R00000039684258
I used the same zip code that I used when I signed up my first sim card. I tried a few zip codes, and one with a different area code tied to it, but still no luck.
FWIW, I have trouble getting google voice numbers in my area code as well, very rarely available - wonder if they are using the same backend for sourcing numbers.

Anyone else had similar issues?

Never had an issue with TextNow - maybe I'll try a port in (or use my Beast number to port in)

Update:
Tried an zip code with an area code that has availability on Google Voice - same error
Tried to port in from TextNow - same error

On Friday, when I logged into my account, it showed that my plan had expired. I am encountering issues without renewing manually...it only let's me renew based on the GSMA 10/10/25 criteria. However, I didn't have time to check the actual phone to see whether I still had service, as this is not a regular number of mine. Nor did I have time to chat with FP on Friday. I then checked the phone yesterday morning and found that I had service. And when I logged into my account yesterday, it showed that the plan had somehow renewed.

So, what I need to do next month check with my actual phone if my service still works on the day after my plan expires. If yes, great. If not, it's OK because I'm only parking a number on this line indefinitely - it's a number with a really good combination in my preferred area code, which I'm holding in reserve in case I lose my current main number in that same area code.

I bought one of these because of the supposed free monthly allotments, but now I am not sure I want to activate this just yet after taking the time to read the renewal comments.

Has anyone gotten to successfully renew month to month without having to be dealing with customer service? Seems like these are not quite ready for primetime.

after adding my cc info and renewing it the first month, it renewed automatically the second month

Update on my activation issues - was able to activate just fine this morning - must have been a system issue yesterday

On Weds 3/2/22 I activated the Walmart sim and place 3 calls to the FP number using a landline or another cell phone and it goes to voicemail as it should since the phone is off I logged into my account and there is a duction of 2 mins for 1 min call, Also They deduct mins for checking voicemail from another phone not related to FP account. so I asked FP cust care to turn off the voicemail Dis anyone here notice if the lose mins just for checking voicemail from a different phone? Thanks

Or, it's by design, to intentionally create 'friction' & encourage moving to a paid monthly plan. It's not unusual for free, or ultra-low-cost plans to entail some user inconvenience.

Today is the end of the cycle on my account. I'll let you know tomorrow if it automatically renews or not.

Mine just auto renewed.

The correct APN is T-Mobile US 240
