Phone purchases in the next app update

That would be an attractive option! Most are priced under $100, so the purchase could be immediate. I still wouldn't count on it working fast enough to catch some of the special offers, as I've seen those last for only a day at times.

some hsn phones have very limited bands, so watch out.

does hsn paygo expire after a year?

https://www.hsn.com/products/lg-55-16gb-tracfone-with-13mp-camera-and-1500-minuteste/8672283

this one comes with 1 full year of service. i dont use cell that much and it fit my bill

Hungry-Hog writes: "does hsn paygo expire after a year?"

(It's Tracfone paygo, of course-- hsn is just the seller of the Tracfone bundles.)
Tracfone requires both days-of-service, and available allotments (minutes, texts, etc.). As long as you have service days remaining, or add new days of service, any remaining allotment balance continues to roll over.for your future use. Days-of-service stack, too. If you run out of days of service, your remaining allotments will vanish after a grace period.

If you run out of texts or data while you still have service days, you can add 1000 texts for $5, 1GB for $10. You can only add additional minutes by buying another all-inclusive refill-- but you can take advantage of refill cards that suit your purpose best. (For example, you could add a refill card that will stack an additional 60 days, 500 minutes, 1000 text, 500mb, for $25.)

From an email:

There are a few different ways you can purchase a phone using gold:

  1. Choose a device through your current carrier and finance it through them so it is a monthly charge added on to your bill. Earn and use gold to pay that bill through our app each month.
  2. We have a few Sprint only devices available for purchase through us.
  3. We could work with our supplier if you have a specific device in mind- if, for example, you chose a phone that was 500 gold, you would pay 100 gold each month until it is paid for then we will send you the device.
Please let me know if you need further help- thanks!"

So no more user-selected retailers like Amazon, newegg ? has to be Cellnuvo supplier?

in that case screw it unless price match is offered.

They used to say "supplier" but the most recent messages I have received have been amazon, bestbuy etc. Just email them a link to what you want to buy.

Won't know for sure how it works until someone goes through it I guess. I'm still waiting for clarification on a number of points but no reply yet.

The email from which I quoted the above was dated 20180305. Are you saying messages more recent than 20180305 don't say "supplier" any more?

I think it would be fair to assume that "sprint only" means network locked. PSA: Sprint has been know to make the unlocking process particularly onerous at times.

To date, no mention of taxes, shipping costs, return policy, warranty etc.?

Besides mmfacemm, has anyone else tried to get a phone using Gold?

I'm tempted to ask for an Sprint iPhone that is known to be unlocked for the GSM folks.

@mmfacemm: How did you begin your conversation with CellNuvo about the purchase? Did you ask them for a list of phones they had?

Yes. I got the same email as you on the 5th. Shortly after that they must have decided to implement a new system. Here is an email received by a few of us after that. Mine was on the 8th.

The app has been updated so now there is a top up request option for purchasing phones in the store- if you find the device you want (for example, on Amazon, Ebay, etc), you can send me a link to the device after you fill out the request in the app. When the phone is paid for, we have it sent to you.

Buying phones via cellnuvo is brand new. Came out on 8th March and I don't think anyone has dared try it yet without getting answers to all the questions. Even I am waiting before trying to buy something via the app.

Mine was actually an iphone they finished using for the cellnuvo ios app testing. I had been bugging cellnuvo for 6 months about phones for gold and pretty much gave up hope of getting anything. Out of the blue I was offered the chance to buy one of their test phones. So you should consider that totally different to the new buying process. They may have some left if you are okay with used phones - try sending Tom an email. Mention my name if you want. The one I received wasn't spotless but it was okay. It was unlocked.

Is the ios app ready? Is it installed on the phone you bought? What model iPhone is it?

I have been trying to get an iPhone operational through CN for the past 8 months.

Not yet ... No ... 7+

There will be an ios beta at some point. If you want early access then contact cellnuvo/Tom to see if you can get on the list.

My goal (and probably the goal of many Nthcircle readers) is to use CellNuvo gold obtain a phone that is usable on all 4 providers, so I'm no locked in to Sprint. I am slightly hopeful that CellNuvo can help with this going forward.

I got some answers to questions about phones.

  1. Taxes and shipping
We will clarify the final price with tax and shipping once you have selected a phone and sent us the link

  2. Price changes whilst still paying off.
If the price changes, we will let you know and you would adjust accordingly (if the price went down, you would only be charged the final, lower price.) If the price went up, we would notify you and you could make the decision to continue with the purchase at the higher price, or you could select a new device and we would purchase that for you instead.

  3. Account number field in the payment details
Use the cellnuvo account number. This is the account that the gold will be deducted from.

  4. Can I pay off a phone with multiple accounts
No - Whatever CellNUVO account number is on the top up request is the account the gold is deducted from- so all transactions for purchasing a phone have to come from the same CellNUVO account number.

This is so stupid. If a member has enough gold in his account, cn should buy the phone immediately and have that phone sent to member from vendor directly. Otherwise the deal is gone before the payments are completed. Now you have 2000 golds and there is a flash deal for iPhone X at 500 bucks, but after 5 months who knows what is going to happen?

I only makes sense if you want to buy a phone with a final cost below $100.

It's not perfect, and it's not the best of all possible worlds for those wanting to buy phones. For any newer customers, however, they won't likely have the Gold available for immediate larger purchase-- & it would be foolhardy for CN to purchase the phone on spec. (The company I work for will do a special order for a client with a 50% non-refundable deposit, at which point we figure we'll eventually come out OK even if a client bails.)

But just think, Hungry-Hog: not long ago, you were campaigning for a way to cash out at a 90% discount. You may still take a hit compared to a temporary sale price, but that will most likely be in the 20% range. Seems like a pretty good alternative.

If you have enough Gold to pay for the phone you want, you might ask Support if they'd allow you to lock in a price by placing your Gold in "escrow" while making the 100/mo virtual payments. (I'm assuming the 100 Gold monthly limit is in place to average out the hit CN takes per month while in recovery mode.....).
