I agree with all your points about different phones yielding different results, lexusl21.
H-H's situation is a little different than most of us-- I think he's specifically trying to earn enough gold to buy a new phone, so replacing the current swiper would set him back on that task, unless the chances of improvement seem very likely.
The other unknown in H-H's results is the WiFi network. I think H-H is dependent on public WiFi networks, and it's possible the problem lies in something about the limitations of the WiFi network used. @Hungry-Hog, is it possible to try swiping on 2 different WiFi networks during similar time periods, to see if you get different results?
KentE, I agree that phone and location have impact on ads. But on this occasion, it might be solely the location. I swiped several different phones together but the result is the same (btw, with marsmallow, the 100 point dot circle never loads, it just keeps rotating.) I did it in the public library. There is no way that the library will allow 30 seconds 3 silvers video but ban 15 seconds 15 silver ads. Before I upgraded to 3.15, I could see the malteser ad once a while, and 30 seconds 5 silvers videos quite often. Now they are all one silver static ad and 3 silvers 30 seconds videos. There is a speedway video awarding 1 silver for 15 seconds. My ass. Too much pain. I might install VPN and try it again. If it does not improve, hell to it. On the other hand, whatever the reason is, 3 silvers for a 30 seconds video?
There are days (especially on one of my phones), when the 100-point-dot-circle surveys never load for me, either. It is frustrating to know a good reward is just out of reach.......
It's still possible the WiFi might be problematic-- it's not just the length of the video, but also the processing steps necessary to get the video to appear/load/complete. I would expect library WiFi to be pretty good, but who knows?
No question there are some ads that are sorely in need of being corrected to the 'Hungry-Hog silver allocation formula standards'. I saw a new one last night (multiple times) that awards only a few silver for a 45 second video. (Longer than that if I don't watch out for the "skip" button to appear.)
It might be worth asking if someone has an apk for a v3.x version earlier than 3.15 and rolling back to that.
#KentE. i can confirmed regarding this situation, "There are days (especially on one of my phones), when the 100-point-dot-circle surveys never load for me, either. It is frustrating to know a good reward is just out of reach"....it's more likely the phone. I have Samsung 3 and it too has the endless circle circling endlessly and never load the survey. All my other reasonable fast and newer phones load up just fine. When I switched that account over to other phone, the survey starts to load fine again. The Tracfone ZTE ZFive2 i bought from Amazon for $20, the surveys load up fine even though it's slow and can only handle two apps on phone (Inf VPN & CellNuvo) due to storage space. For someone on tight budget, that phone may be fine for CellNuvo. For everyday uses, making calls, texts, etc....I don't know as I use it only for CellNuvo.
@SuccessOne-- I don't doubt your analysis of my whirling survey problem! My swipers are Android 6, but 4gb/512mb--pretty crippling. I need to try something with a little more horsepower, although all my choices will be more-or-less out of date.
Hungry-Hog, it looks like apkpure.com has apks for CN 3.11, 3.07, 3.00. I looked to see if ApkPure was generally considered a safe source, and got enough confirmation that I would try it if needed-- but you should make your own judgement call. (I think I would avoid 3.00, though.)
KentE, thank you. I guess Lexus is right. It is the public wifi issue. Today I did not go to library, but I tried fp sprint internet and saw those 30 seconds 5 silvers ads and Maltese again. Of course, the internet speed is so low that they didn't load with ease.
But again, why would cn allow so many 30 seconds 3 silvers ads? 5 silvers is already too meager.
I guess I got lucky being right one time. Lol. Even broken clocks are right twice a day lol
On a serious note. Why don't you try this if you can.
1). Wholefoods has good wifi for cellnuvo. I've tried. Starbucks is also good. A hotel. But basically is going to be a hit and this type of situation for you. I truly wish you luck
2). Ask a neighbor/friend to see their wifi.
Download a app that shows free wifi hotspots.
I think I saw a commercial that Att uverse offers internet only for $20
5). It made perfect sense from a logic perspective that the public library would ban what they consider spam apps or anything that isn't just web browsing. I had a strong suspicion that it wasn't cellnuvo.
6). Can someone recommend a good hotspot locator app?
Just looking at Google play store. There is a app called Instabridge free wifi password and hotspots rated 4.4 stars
I NEVER used it but something like this might be worth a try. Or something like this app.
It seems to be social media for wifi locations and people post password. Of course on strange wifi I would use an app like ARP guard or something else others here recommend. To protect you on strange wifi
Thank you Lexus but my trailer is in a residential area far from commercial spots. All wifi signals my phone picks up are from private neighbor homes. Xfinity signal is very weak and not reliable.
This is why I mentioned that particular app. It looks like social media for WiFi. People Add there router and password. There is supposed to be millions of spots. Not just commerical ,but residential.
Maybe worth a free download try. Just saying you got nothing to lose.
Just make sure you have a free protection app when using strange wifi. I use arp guard but I am sure others here might have better
Also
7). Have you thought about asking Chelle what is a good cheap mifi?
H-H, I'm glad you figured out the culprit! Now if figuring out a workable solution would only be so easy....
It's been a while since I was heavily (or totally) dependent on public WiFi, so I don't know if any of these are still likely possibilities.....
I used to look for hospitals, the service center at car dealerships (and by extension large-chain oil/muffler shops), doctor's offices (and orthodontists-- anywhere customers would have to wait before paying a large bill..
That is why that app and ones like it seem promising. People join and some offer access. Not sure why anyone would do that. That is in combo with commercial offering s..
For free wifi no password necessary, Home Depot has been the most reliable for us. Fast clean connections. Walmart is usually good. Grocery store chains are hit or miss. In the past we could usually sit in the parking lot and pick it up just fine but in the past year or so it has been necessary to go inside for best reception. There is almost always a bench where you can sit and use it, you don't have to buy anything.Pilot and Flying J truck-stops are also hit and miss, they can be pretty congested. Some of the states we travel through have excellent free wifi at the rest stops. If you are at the rest stop during lunch and the parking lot is full of semis it can bog down and get pretty congested. Some museums and National Parks have no admission charges and free wifi at the visitor centers. Welcome centers in towns and near state borders are also pretty good. We don't use any special wifi finders just search for available networks on your phone. I haven't been in a shopping mall in years. but I imagine they all offer wifi now..Our local flea market had great free wifi.
The issue HH wanted something near his home. Does not seem possible. Unless he lived in a major city.
Hungry hog. ---. Here is an idea. Again I am just thinking out loud.
The park that you live in. They have a main office no? They must have wifi. Have you thought of calling them and asking nicely? I would think that if you are current in your payment s they might let you use it. Do you see them on your wifi server list on your phone? Again worth the effort to check it out.
Pc magazine talks about this very subject and offers apps to try
Hope you don't mind the suggestions. Just trying to help
Verizon has been killing the 3g mifi units, over the past three weeks. Two of mine have gone dead and two still work. (I got my money's worth out of them, though.)
I think the best deal, right now, is the free Sprint year. It no longer includes hotspot data but you should be able to get around that by using WiFi direct.
For about $4/month, to cover taxes, you'll get unlimited talk, text and data, with no obligation beyond the free year.
Years ago, when I didn't have a data plan, my 'secret weapon' for finding accessible public WiFi was a Palm Pixi phone with no carrier service. It had the fastest WiFi sniffer I've ever seen & a really sensitive WiFi receiver, and I could monitor it while driving at 20-30 mph to find open WiFi. I remember being surprised when visiting a small city in southern Kansas to find nearly continuous free WiFi coverage on the main street. (Chamber of Commerce, library, Junior College, restaurants, car dealers, motels, etc.)
I think using the Pixi now would be impossible, since the Palm servers have been shut down. There used to be a range of 'WiFi Finders' on the market, but a quick look at Ebay mostly shows signal-strength indicators, but without indication of open- or locked- status.
