Was just thinking the same thing. Yeah almost a month now. My AT&T renews shortly. Probably should just go to numberbarn and see if they can do that any faster but I don't want to be without my number for too long....
Not sure exactly how number barn works, but it seems you can get messages, leave a message for callers, and forward calls via your number while it is parked there so your number is actually still functioning while parked and until ported out.
Yeah, I looked into it. Looks like I would have to play $7 ($5 port + $2/month) to do that. Then I wouldn't have cell service until FreeMii gets their act together. At this point I'm not willing to spend money to help FreeMii do their job.
After sending some upset messages to Paul and Monika, Monika is now claiming she will have some kind of resolution today.
Throwing in the towel on the 'red network'. I woke up this morning to find my service not working again. My AT&T based account has never given me any problems so I'll keep that one active as long as it works. I submitted a ticket for a refund. I'll keep everyone posted on how that works.
Yeah, I'm getting that feeling as well. I've got until the end of the year before I have to ask for my refund, if it comes to that. In the meantime, I'm hoping that either the Red network gets out of beta and starts to work, or the AT&T improves their signal near my home. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for FreeMii.
FreeMii probably shouldn't have even offered the Red, and possibly the Pink, network in beta until a later date. Offering them now has tarnished its reputation. But, as said, the AT&T sim has been a good deal so far.
I don't think anyone on this forum has activated with pink, though I think someone posted they are awaiting a Pink sim. Edit: I don't think anyone said they chose pink after all.
Never had an issue with the blue network vis a vis FreeMii...just that the AT&T signal sucks at my house...1/2 mile or less in any direction from here and I'm golden. Joys of living in the sticks.
My issue is with the Red network...they won't let me activate on a device currently active on VZW. I'm trying not to have to buy a new phone, but might have to.. Going to just let it sit for a while and see what happens.
For me it's upstairs vs down. Ground level on my street loses AT&T signal; upstairs or a block away it's fine.
The sort of ironic thing is that Blue coverage in semi-rural parks in my state was the main reason I hesitated to try switching to pink, at least until the problems with red started getting reported. But I already had the impression that which network has better coverage away from population centers varies.
I'm finally activated, but without porting. I told them I just wanted to be activated. Blue network. Speeds are better than with my AT&T prepaid account.
One problem. Texting isn't working. I updated the APNs based on the recommendation so I'm not sure what is up but I have contacted customer service. If anyone has had trouble with SMS and fixed it please let me know.
You might give the texting a little time to kick in. As I understand it, texting protocol is handled separately from calling and data and sometimes is activated later than data or calling features. But good in any case that you let CS know.
Don't bother with red dude, it'll randomly shutoff and is unstable. sblake5 was under the 9 gb and got shut off again

Yeah, pretty much where I'm at. My 100 days lasts to the end of the year, so I'm waiting to see if they get the Red network worked out, or if AT&T gets a better signal here. I'll keep my little Palm on the Blue for now, and see what happens.
Yes those are my settings. It is strange, I replied to the message sent by Free Mii when I put the SIM card in and that sent (just to try texting a random number) but I can't send a message to anyone I normally text. If I try to send a picture to someone it just says that "Network is not ready. Try again." Calls and data work fine.
