Still waiting for port and activation on blue network. 19 days after getting my sim. Was wanting to try out the provider with one sim before buying another, now I'll have to spend more to try out another. Not really impressed with customer service's competence at this point.
19 days even with a skeleton crew is disturbing.
I was going to join you guys in taking a chance but with the price hike, unsustainable business plan and slow service, it reeks of Ponzi versus growing pains.
Good Luck you brave souls.
Way too long. I think you posted a little more than a week ago that CS said your phone activation should take place that day. Have you been able to use your AT&T pre-paid sim and phone for the past 19 days? Since you're porting from AT&T to FreeMii AT&T, maybe that somehow created a problem for FreeMii given it must have some sort of agreement with AT&T. Anyway, you can get a refund if need be, per FreeMii's offer.
Just got a response from Paul in CS. So either they added someone to CS staff or Monica isn't there????
"Hi Steve, we apologize for the delay. We have escalated your concern to our network team. We will let you know once it is activated."
Not holding my breath, but yeah, I though from AT&T prepaid should be one of the easiest ports. I've got 9 days before my AT&T renews, hope they can get it before then. My AT&T has been working up till then. I was carrying the new SIM in anticipation but I gave up and have been leaving it at home.
carrier to the same carrier albeit with a different company seems to be the most complicated for some reason. Often it is easier to port elsewhere and then back to your carrier of choice.
Just did the 9Gb test on Red, and sure enough, my Android is showing 8.58 Gb used, and my services stopped working. I tried to place a call and got routed to the "call back team", who arranges a call back from someone in billing between 9am to ?? (didn't catch the close time). I asked what company he works for, and he says the team works on and supports many wireless companies like [indiscernible], Puppy Wireless, and others. I said, "Oh, so you work for Unified Signal?" and he said, "Yes, of course."
So uniquely, the calls are routing through their support line, which I thought was interesting.
I also opened up a ticket on the FreeMii support site, so I'll let you guys know what I find out.
Yeah I figured. I wonder why they even bother providing Verizon when it’s capped at 9000 MB? Goes against the whole “after 22 Gb you’ll be slowed”. Thanks for the data point. Keep us updated with what happens!
Me, too. FreeMii did say: ""Currently we support major carriers in the U.S., our focus is on Blue.
Red and Pink are currently in beta support, with manual activation that can take up to 72 hours. You can request manual activation after your SIM card was delivered"
FreeMii should have probably said more about what being in beta support means and what problems one may encounter.
If I had to guess, they pay UnifiedSignal to provision an account on a flat, but tiered pricing schedule. When a new user pays $150 + fees, now $200, that goes into a coffer of available funds, and if they can keep users below a provisioning amount, they can utilize the pool to pay for fees. If they provision a higher data amount in advance, then they have to dip more into the available company funds.
I get the feeling that this is a temporary solution until they can get extras and addons automated through the freemii website - where they can make a reasonable markup on things like international calling, handset/devices, and other addon services that can help keep the bank account positive. Imagine they have ~6 months of runway per user on the $150/$200 membership fee, and as long as they are bringing in an exponential amount of people in a pyramid scheme, they can pay for the current users until they get other services up to offset the monthly fees they inherently pay.
I just got my FreeMii Blue sim and it was activated instantly. Seems to be an AT&T premier account, like Wing Alpha. As far as I know, that now shuts all data off at 50 GB. Fast.com gets me around 3.8 Mbps which is in line with Stream Saver being turned on. Network Signal Guru reports a QCI of 8, which is standard QCI for consumer priority data(i assume 22 GB of it for FreeMii). QCI 7 is only for Business Elite( i think some tasks are even QCI 6 due to fast track), everything else is QCI 8 and deprioritized data is QCI 9
I called 611 and the automated robot told me the bill was higher this month and if that's why i was calling(lol) and then will just tell you that your service is provided by a partner reseller and to contact them for issues
I did not port a number. In fact when activating my sim card, the FreeMii activation site didn't even ask if i was porting a number or not. I remember there was a question for that when activating the Verizon one so maybe they changed it now or it could be different for blue
22+ gb in under 24 hours? Wow, and ouch! Hopefully it's just a "red flag" warning like Red is after 9000mb in a week that can be reset. That's 2g speed, not de-prioritized. And if it is a warning, I guess I like that a little better than then having all service shut off as a warning (like Red).
Thanks for pushing the boundaries so we can all see where the limits are. Hoping customer service can restore your data from 2g back to de-prioritized. Good luck!
All I did was download 3 of those 10 GB bin files on speedtest sites. Started slowing down to a crawl on the 3rd one and I checked data usage. Took barely any time since i get 100 Mbps + at night on at&t.
Yeah it’s a hard 2G throttle, not depri. 0% chance it’s a flag, that just doesn’t happen from AT&T. Doubt they can restore it because this probably isn’t an unlimited lte plan. False advertising too, since they advertise unlimited high speed data with depri after 20 gb smh.
It does say somewhere on their customer care site that they don't guarantee speed of connection. So technically since there is that disclosure, and you agree to it by signing up, it's not false adverting. Maybe 'clever' advertising?
