You can lose your Google Voice Number

Not sure if only I was unaware... but this can be concerning for people that have a primary number on Google Voice

I was aware but I would've sworn it was one year of inactivity and the warning emails started at ~ 9 months inactive.
Maybe it used to be a year?
Anyway, good to know, thanks for posting this.

It did used to be a year, if I'm remembering correctly.

But if a # is ported in, it's permanent, and TextNow is the same.

Oh that's interesting, because my number on there was originally a skype number. So lucky me I guess

I have a calendar reminder to text my other number once a month.

I knew about TN, they sort of imply so much on one of their FAQ.

Does GV mention ported in #'s being "permanent" anywhere?

This was posted yesterday by BluesCatReddit, Google Voice Product Expert:

"Google Voice numbers that have been ported-in are, without further action by you, considered “persistent” unless you transfer or delete the numbers; they will not be reclaimed by Google, again, as long as you don’t violate any rules. If you have two ported-in numbers, both are considered "persistent.""

I guess this is the more permanent link:
