If you have the inclination to read the "SlickDeals" comments on this promo , you'll find that quite a few posters used cheap T-Mobile prepaid MVNOs to get the deal. (read the comments if you wish to know how they did this)
I am one of those who used a prepaid $5 plan from Hello Mobile to get the deal.
But the big question is : will this be vetted by Visible and, if so, will prepaid MVNO T-Mobile Network accounts be cancelled after the first month? ....because of this key terms and conditions inclusion :
"Transfer your number from a T-Mobile postpaid account within 30 days of transaction"
The answer is "maybe". When people were discussing this deal in other forums, saying that they got the discounted price transferring from T-Mo Prepaid or a T-Mo MVNO, I mentioned the possibility that Verizon might catch it later and reverse the discount. As of now, I think the answer is still, "maybe; you'll have to wait and see". Good luck!
I read this on Prepaid Compare. It seems to imply that this promo was aimed at Mint. Note that she said "all T-Mobile single line customers" rather than T-Mobile postpaid.:
Last week, Nancy Clark, President of Verizon Value Markets, wrote on LinkedIn about one of the most aggressive promotions I’ve seen in this industry:
Yesterday, T-Mobile’s subsidiary Mint Mobile announced that if AT&T and Verizon customers switch to Mint Mobile, they can buy one three-month plan for $45 and get up to four additional lines at what they called ‘free.’ What they didn’t mention was that this only applied for the first three months and that there were added taxes and fees charged to the customer for each line.
At Visible, not only do we provide better value, but we do it 365 days a year. No gimmicks and no hidden fees. Today, we’re giving all T-Mobile single line customers the chance to bring their number over to Visible and get the Visible plan for $15 per month with a 5-year price guarantee, taxes and fees included…Give us a shot and use the code BYEBYETMO for this amazing offer.
That's what I was afraid of when I mentioned it as a possibility in my post above, although when I mentioned it, I was just guessing. It will be interesting to see what happens if that Reddit post about Verizon hiring an auditor is true.
