Thanks Again Soteria 2.0 !!

Perhaps an angelic alien ?!?
(Or...are angels actually ETs anyhow - how's that for a question ?!?)

Relating with the mention of 'otherworldly'in a historical manner...
My oldest friend was always very much an 'outside the box' kind of guy, and when folks would shake their heads & call him weird, he would just reply:
Thank You.

That would really make them wonder & every so often they might ask why he responded thus...
To which he would answer that weird was synonymous with 'otherworldly', which he considered to be a compliment.

Time aplenty, for certain:

Any outdoor summer activities for this old guy are very restricted due to an actual medical inability to tolerate any condition much over about 72F - so...
My former love of gardening is now fortunately left to my partner & we do have permission of the owner to use the small back yard for that.
She is excellent with the decorative gardening here, and we'll see what happens when veggies are the focus...maybe.

There's talk of only very restricted fishing licenses here this year - and I've never gotten into hunting, but did farm for some years in the distant past & raised meat animals too - which would be fine if we lived in a more rural setting - for now our 'hunting' is via the meat dept. at the market !!

We do have a huge population of squirrels, chipmunks, woodchucks, deer, foxes, etc. right here in this little town and our yard is quite close to a lively river which seems to provide us with wildlife watching most of the year.
Once in a while a moose will wander through town & sometimes on a very quiet night you can even hear the cooing of bears here.

Thank you - and for you & yours as well:

Thanks, I did take a trip out to BJs and a grocery store today, 45 minutes away as local supplies are nill.

Wow.
No chicken to be had - I've never seen that area so empty.

And a funny=>
They filled the large bays with the signs for toilet paper with bale sized packages of paper towels - not a scrap of TP there since this craziness began !!
(I also went a month ago & its a good thing we haven't needed any & aren't likely to run out for a while.)

Best Wishes to All !!

Mr. Gorilla Man aka EZ

I'm sorry you had to give up gardening.
I'm sure that the flower garden is beautiful.
Maybe you will be able to blend in a few vegetables.
I hope that you weren't looking forward to fried chicken.
LOL
My favorite, I would have been so disappointed.
Stay safe.

Such kind thoughts are very appreciated during such a time as this Soteria 2.0, Thank You.

As we age, our lives inevitably change - and we must find ways to remain happy all the same.
Staying happy & healthy are things that go well together, I have found.

So...
Decades ago my garden was 4 raised beds, each ~4' x 35' with loads of everything growing through hay mulch as taught by Ruth Stout.
Once things were popping, the best way to get a snack was to just take a stroll out back.
In fact during its 1st year I tried out black seeded simpson lettuce for the 1st time ever, and holy cow, did I learn not to plant too much of that variety !!
2 weeks of rains and that yummy stuff had stalks over 3' high.
(If I'd been raising rabbits they'd have been sooo well fed.)

Later - life changed & I along with it & now I am grateful for my little A/C all summer long.

Fried chicken = maximum yum !!

I have been known to drive a long way to do errands in an area with a Popeye's so as to get their spicy fried chicken, along with red beans & rice - with a bunch to bring home for later.
Seems to me (not being a fan of fast foods other than Popeyes...) that there is no tastier chicken to be had anyplace that I ever found in this region.
Fortunately I was able to teach myself how to make very similar RB&R at home, which really hits that spot well.

Maybe, just maybe Popeyes will survive this craziness & can be had at some later date...once again ?!?

PS:
If the moderator finds this thread offensive, I'm sure the 'excessive niceness' will get separated into a new thread - else it really ain't right for a non-moderator to be snarking at 2 members having a pleasant chat & telling them what to - and not to do in such (already) stressful times.
(I for one sure don't miss the overbearing mods at other places which are no longer with us...)

I'm 100% in favor of niceness but y'all need to get a room.

You have seriously hijacked this thread.

Love,
Chelle

Hi beautiful, is textnow ad-support phone service still available for free?

Yes! And it still works well.

The free Sprint data is blocked for most apps and is very slow, but it works great for TextNow as well as Facebook Lite and Facebook Messenger Like (which appear to be whitelisted and which consume very little data).

Thank you Beautiful. Someone said that it requires an activation fee of $10, is this true?

Maybe if you need a Sprint SIM, from them, but I was able to activate an old RingPlus phone without having to pay anything. I reused the same SIM.

Was assisting a friend with her Sprint phone, the textnow app and service was working fine (slow but usable). She deleted the app, cleared cache and tried to reinstall the app and now she gets this message...YOUR DEVICE ISN'T COMPATIBLE WITH THIS VERSION. it was just using it....any suggestions wise folks?

Maybe bad timing, rather than an error..... Looking at the Play Store just now, the app appears to have been updated on 4/22/2020, current version 20.14.0.1, and lists Android 5.0 as minimum requirement.

If your friend has the new version, perhaps it's either buggy, or the phone no longer meets compatibility needs that were OK on the previous version.

You might look for the earlier apk from one of the usual archive sources, or extract the apk from your phone if you have the earlier version installed.

I've received that message before on a phone I had the TN app on previously. I can't remember what I did now. I think I tried sideloading an older version and that might have worked. Either that or I just left it for a week and it resolved itself.

Hi Beautiful

Sorry, it never even occurred to me that we hijacked the thread.
For that I apologize.
I was happy to hear a fellow member was doing well.
Honestly, just seeing someone post makes me happy, knowing that they are alright.

But I don't think that speaking of gardens and such constituents getting a room.
That comment is quite offensive, and unnecessary.

Thanks

I have a single device remaining with TN on it & working.
It has an older version of that and its OS.
I will not be upgrading either thing, and whenever it is that TN quits working due to its 'needs', it can stay gone.

On a totally related note:
There used to be handy ways to get free phone numbers, and in recent times all but GV seem to have dried up - but...
In terms of usability, being able to use GV for calls & SMSs on devices is a fine & total replacement for TN - which those folks should maybe keep in mind as they continue to shake off their long term users.

Oh crap why would they make poor guys like me with an old version Android unable to use this ad-support service? Because they think only those who can afford an iPhone 11 actually buy the products advertised in their app?

Hi gangs, which version can be used on Android 4?

TextNow 20.2.0.1 is working on Boost ZTE Speed with Android 4.4.4.

Thank you! I m going to try this with my moto e2.

(1). "Having the ability to text from Google Voice and text ability in Hangouts, even better.". Is it still doable?

(2) My moto e2 requires 75% signal strength to use textnow app for phone calls.

I'm not sure how strong the signal would have to be on your phone.

Hi beautiful, I am in a small town away from home now. To my surprise, here the sprint signal is much stronger than Verizon and att. So I can use my Moto e2 to make phone calls through TextNow here. Interesting. I want to explore Hangouts and Google voice with it as most of my texting messages go through these two apps.
