Google...meh...as usual

Ran across some info about the future of Android that seems a bit depressing.

Here's an article about it:

Best reason I've seen yet to stick with older devices as long as possible !!

That article is a bit dated being from early March.
Not long after your linked article was posted G announced the "advanced flow safeguard"

You can find plenty of tech blog articles and interpretations/prognostications regarding the new regime but I think they all conclude that independent small scale & student APK tinkering and side loading can survive, for now.

From another article
"These new sideloading restrictions will go into effect this September first in Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand. Global requirements will kick in sometime next year. The advanced flow process will arrive on devices a bit earlier in August, so that users can enable it and get through the 24-hour waiting period ahead of time, if they wish."
So I guess we'll see how the "preview" goes before it becomes the new regime in USA.

Just reinforces how glad I am to have older devices & that if possible I'll avoid buying anything newer within my remaining lifetime.

I use Apkpure & sideload rather religiously - hence my disdain for the BIG g in general.

Seeing the article I linked here didn't inspire me to search further - so thanks Redrotors for filling in more details.
