Interesting development. Google has also been developing their own non-Linux OS called "Fuchsia". So Google is invested in a few OSes. They were an early investor in Uber, but ended up suing them and, I suppose, partially themselves.
There is prognostication afoot which points to Fuchsia being aimed as both an Android & Linux killer over time.
What I've seen thus far claims that Fuchsia is based upon totally new coding as a basis for even more dominant activities by the Big G.
