Coupons dead? gone? FreeUP has gone bad?

Interesting-- I had always assumed moving to a paid plan was a one-way street, with no return to the free plan.

Since rewards balances are back on FreeUP, I checked some of the other Billaway sites-- they're back up and running, too. I think we can safely assume that this was a Billaway reporting issue.

I was a bit surprised, too. I was going to cancel the account altogether but decided to click on the "change plan" button out of curiosity. The 250 minutes free plan along with the global plan options( but none of the old US, Canada, and Mexico plans ) came up, so I thought why not keep the free plan alive. Perhaps a retention ploy. It should work on everyone's account page and can be checked by clicking on the aforementioned "change plan" button to see what's there.

Also of note, it's interesting that the billaway coupon site is still exactly as it was and still asks for a phone verification check. I'm too lazy to try printing a coupon, but maybe someone else will print to see if rewards are granted in a hail Mary attempt to see if coupon printing has risen from the dead, for after all FU never really properly notified its customers of its demise.

Coupon printing is working now.

Good to know, but will one get rewarded. It worked before with no rewards, so will have to see.

It is odd that of the 'sister' billaway sites (linked some time ago by st3fx), only Freeup.billaway.com still has visible coupons. The other sites have either had the coupon category removed, or coupons simply don't load when the coupon category is selected.

Since I use coupons anyway, I'll run a test tonight and see if crediting takes place. I don't it will work because recently I used their site and did not see any crediting.

Given my track record (about the same as @peterquinn's), I doubt I will ever get any coupon credits, but I'll give it another try and see what happens. Hope springs eternal!

If it ain't working, you can't break it. By trying, you've nothing to lose but may be rewarded. Saw that in a fortune cookie.

Oops! I forgot to print the coupon but I got this today.

I got that same email today too. Was going to ask if anyone knows if they reinstated coupon printing, but I guess it's still an unknown at this point.

"coupons.com deal card?" The only deal card I see under coupons is the same one that's always been there for me: "Earn up to $0.30 in Reward Dollars" for "Take this simple Math Test..." which, last I checked, goes to a series of annoyingly slow-rendering pages of "hey did you know this weird thing" with math questions in between.

I did just discover the "Local Offers" section which indicates I can allow them to link a credit card and earn points by using it. Not sure I'm on board with that.

Coupon printing still appears in the browser version at freeup.billaway.com.
It does not appear in the app.

Yep, it shows on the site. The comment was aimed at the attached screenshot email I got. I did run two coupons, but no credit so far.

i printed a coupon just to see lol

Just got this text from FreeUP.

"Good day! We're notifying you that our Rewards program is ending on Sept 30, 2019. Your unused Reward dollars balance will be transferred to your mobile account by October 3, 2019. We apologize for any inconvenience. FreeUP Mobile"

Still not on a paid plan but guess I might as well get one and use up the reward balance I earned, have enough banked I can get about a years service.

Why do company's deliver bad news and start the email with
"Good day!

I never understood why they do that.

So maybe they should open with "Your day is going to hell! Right now! Read on!"

Or perhaps:
"Suffering from an excess of good vibes? Well, we're here to help with that."

Seriously, though-- if I'm reading the statement correctly, it sounds like they're planning on treating us well with the demise of the rewards program.

I left this comment on another thread:

It sounds like our reward balances have been residing on Billaway's servers and, now that the relationship has been severed, the balances are being transferred to FreeUp's servers. I don't think it will have any discernable impact on what most of us are currently doing.

Thanks for the laugh. Although I would prefer the truth. Not a sugar coating.

I remember a hotel in Vegas. The staff were nasty to everyone. Like they were trained to be nasty.

Each time I watched them be nasty to customers. They ended by saying
"have a Grand Day!"

disingenuous to say the least. We still joke about it.
