Changes to Freedompop free plans

In that case what would happen to my $100 topup ? Will they give some paid service ?

Now the cheapest internet service is tello $5 plan, right?

"cheapest" probably depends on what you can tolerate, and need.

Tello's $5 plan is 500mb + unlimited text, but no voice minutes. (Add $1 for 100 minutes)
Hello Mobile (likely T-Mobile network) has a $5 plan that includes the above, plus 500 minutes. (But it seems bad experiences with Hello Mobile customer service are pretty common.)
Red Pocket has a $5 plan if prepaying for a year.

UltraMobile Paygo has a $3/mo plan, with a $10 startup cost for the SIM. (T-Mo network) This requires a special SIM kit.

Red Pocket/FreedomPop still has a hidden $3/mo plan using the legacy Sprint network. It's clunky getting it set up. The same plan is available as an annual plan via Ebay at $30/year. (200 minutes/1000text/200mb)

H_H, how did you end up with a $100 top-up? Was that through the discounted pop-up offer we saw sometimes? (Buy $100 of top-up credit for $20, or something like that?) FreedomPop seems to be getting even more reluctant to do top-up refunds in general, and I'd bet they'd be very resistant to refunding a discounted purchase: best case, you might talk your way into a refund of whatever your purchase cost was, rather than the $100 credit.

Hi buddy I think tello is better because it has unlimited low speed data. I don't do video, porn, hip-hop, Facebook, so I don't need high speed data. Does any other plan have unlimited low speed data?

i have quite a few FreedomPop simcards and each one was charged at least once for data overage. I guess it might be about 100.

Of the plans I mentioned above, I believe only Tello includes fallback 2G.

Even this might be gone after tello switches to gsm, LOL

Tmobile prepaid has a $5 mobile data plan with 500mb and unlimited 2g speed 128k. They just opened it up to prepaid.

Hello everyone,

As some have noticed via email and/or text, a notice has been sent regarding the upgrade to our Premium SIM like the one previously sent. We’ve extended the deadline to accommodate all of our customers.

That being said, we strongly encourage you to take action as soon as possible with the best time to upgrade no more than 5 days before your current billing cycle is scheduled to end.

For the moment, service will continue as is, until you work your way into the new FreedomPop experience and everything is migrated successfully. Once our migration to the cellular voice network is complete, any lines that did not transition will be disconnected.

Feel free to review some of our self-help articles (shared below) for any/all related topics, or simply reach out to us via all support channels, and we'll surely provide some assistance. Thanks!

Hi there!

Sorry to read you are yet to receive the Premium SIM. Our team would certainly appreciate the opportunity to take a look and get this going for you. Please reach out to us via chat support or send our forums team a message here so they can gather some details and assist accordingly.

Thanks!

So, we know already that FreedomPop is not rolling over any remaining top-ups to the new plans?

FreedomPop is typically very murky about how they will handle things...
The link to a support article provided by user FreedomPop says that Customer Service can transfer existing top-up credit and rollover data to a new-format line.
I've read a comment from a user elsewhere that they did transfer rollover data, but the data expired at the end of the month with no way to roll it over further.

IF Freedompop would roll over top-up credits, and bill overage charges against the top-up credit, that would make the new plan at least a viable way to use up existing top-ups, and give a little breathing space on the risk of new overage charges..

freedompop deleted my 80 topup from sprint. Unscrupulous company.

That sucks. I've had similar experience with them, having lost a total of ~$100 top-up due to transition to Redpocket / Ting, and due to porting some lines out, even though I kept the associated SIMs & were using them. But that loss is weighed against years of use of ~8 lines.

I suppose one tactic is to burn through the top-up before closing the account.

I will try to roll over one of my accounts to the new free plan, & report back as to what happens to the top-up, & if the top-up is rolled over, what gets charged / deducted when I go over 10 minutes.

In can share that I had a $10 top up balance which did not make it to the new account / line despite what was said (could not be reimbursed due to the length of time it had been sitting on the account but applied to the new service). Since it was such as small amount and I used the service for quite some time, I did not bother pursuing it.

I hate this game.

Yes, I think that's why more folks are just giving up on playing it at all. The possible reward for staying in the game becomes lower and lower, and there are some decent choices for very inexpensive "standard" plans that weren't available earlier. Reliable $3-$5/mo options exist, as well as TextNow's free option.

With Tello officially starting GSM service, it will be a much better option than FP.

It looks that fp has quit data use tracking.

I think there was only a temporary glitch on FP's data tracking. I used about 120gb of data on my Galaxy S5 on Jan 20 that didn't get counted. however, about 20gb got logged this morning when I used the same device.

Did you mean 120mb instead of gb? Otherwise, you're on a considerably different plan than I am....
