This is not the first article on this that seems somewhat titled misleadingly to me. Clickbait-y maybe?
The call was made via "space" or more accurately via satellite. Not "from" or "in" space, like from the space station which is how I would read these titles.
The idea being that eventually signal coverage gaps of tower networks can be covered by satellite coverage.
