Insects, aka bugs, are beautiful, are feared and hated, and are purposely and inadvertently murdered by humans every day, and yet they are extremely important to a thriving earth. Bug off, don't bug me, report a bug, software bug, a bugged phone, are but a few of the ways in which language has incorporated these valuable and despicable creatures into our lives. Many of us wish we could live without them, but that is probably not possible. There are tree huggers, next could be bug lovers. I've noticed a steadily decreasing collection of bugs on my car's windshield and front bumper each of the past several years.
