Cats seem to be big in China for whatever reason(s). In the past, I spent some time on the Deepin Linux OS forum, a distro from China. When they combined the Chinese forum with the english speaking forum, there were cat emojis galore, not to mention other animals. So like cat lovers throughout the world, people will go to great lengths to express their passion for cats. All things "Hello Kitty" have been adored throughout the world for a long time, and I imagine there were some cat fights along the way.
