Tracfone: Unlocking phones

Has anyone had experience unlocking a Pixel 6a purchased from HSN/Tracfone?

I'm thinking about upgrading my old but still good, manufacturer unlocked Pixel 2xl currently on Red-Pocket @ $3.50/month. It has horrible Tmobile coverage in my area.

Tracfone offers a Pixel 6a one year unlimited talk text 24gb plan on Verizon (hopefully better coverage) through HSN.
Good/ bad idea? I'm a low talk/ text/ data user.

Any pitfalls gotchas I need to know about?

Good Phone? Are there better phones/plans out there for the price point? Problems unlocking or porting out?

I have had my 6a for a about a year and have been very happy with it. Mine was through Metro by T Mobile, however. It unlocked after a year. Performance is still fine. Great option for a budget phone without all the typical Samsung and Moto bloatware. I believe it gets updates for a couple more years.
