Stephen Hawking, one of the greatest physicists of our time, has died

News Proof:

One of his quotes, as remembered by reddit, states:
The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge

RIP Stephen Hawking, you were always an inspiration to me as a child.

"At the age of 22 Prof Hawking was given only a few years to live after being diagnosed with a rare form of motor neurone disease."

We did benefit so much from his beating the odds!

Truly a shame.

Truly brilliant

A wonderful life. He once said, 'It would not be much of a universe if it wasn't home to the people you love.'

Einstein born Mar 14
Steven Hawkins died Mar 14
Coincidence?

Yes :stuck_out_tongue:

That and something to do with Black Holes and gravity influencing space-time.

That's some irrational thinking

I'm surprised no one got that pi joke on pi day

Wow -- never thought of that! Guess we're all just too rational to have a (pi-like) sense of humor.

Now I do feel irrational with pi all over my face. Good pi day joke that probably should have been delivered to a more sophisticated bunch.

I don't know if knowing pi to the 70,000th digit makes you sophisticated or not but here is a list of pi ranking. It does not have Daniel Tammet on it though he did over 22,000 over 10 yrs ago. Looks like you have to do 20 to get in the running. lol

I do have a Raspberry Pi pc that I could set up to calculate pi indefinitely, but I will most likely be nonexistent before it even gets remotely close to any record, for my days are numbered by rational, whole numbers. It would be nice, or maybe not so nice, if our lives went on forever like Pi purportedly does.

Even on his death bed he still stays awesome.

He departed with a bang, which is fitting.
