I've recently had one of these in a rental/AirBnB property in between tenants, while some work was being done to upgrade the property. During that interim period, I had one of these routers with a Visible SIM in it. I was consistently able have three TVs streaming simultaneously while still be able to use a couple of cell phones and a laptop without issue. Speedtests were in the 200-350 mbps range on the 5GHz connection depending on the time of day.
I even tested it with a Metro SIM and was able to get it to work similarly. With Metro, you have to use an AT command to overwrite the router's IMEI with your phone's IMEI before you swap the SIM from your phone into the router. As long as your TTL settings are correct, Metro will not tabulate the data usage as hotspot usage.
$400 is a bit much for me.
Any likely candidates at half that price that still provide similar flexibility re bypassing restrictions but lower load? One stream and a few internet browsers or the occasional 2 streams.
I got a SUNCOMM O1for $236 total delivered from Alibaba last year, and it's been working great with my $10/mo business unlimited tablet plan for my home internet I don't know how much one currently costs.
I'm now getting full Internet coverage for our home with Visibles $25 monthly plan (well actually $15 monthly for me because I luckily got on board their $15 five year promo)
I use PdaNet+'s "WiFiDirect" feature on my cheap cell phone---it allows multiple connections at full unthrotled Mbps speeds (regardless of carrier restrictions)
That being said, it can be a bit tricky setting up the "WiFiDirect" proxies on the connected devices (especially on streaming devices) , but once done all goes well .
No eSIMs on the Cudy P5 that I posted about above, nor the GL-iNet Spitz AX300 which I also tried out.
Cudy also sells a CAT18 model that only gets 4G LTE. That model goes for about $230.
All of the Cudy higher end models seem to have dual physical SIM capability. I also own a lower end LT500 model that's used as a backup in my home, which only has single p-SIM and no carrier aggregation.
