"The 3,450-meter shot, which took about 10 seconds to reach its target, was independently verified by a video camera and other data, the source said."
That must have been a very suspenseful 10 seconds.“Canada has a world-class sniper system,” the source told the paper. “It is not just a sniper. They work in pairs. … This is a skill set that only a very few people have.” Oh, these Canadians.
My question would be: why is a Canadian soldier engaged in such activity in Iraq?
Here are three examples of an act.
a person intentionally kills another without approval from society
a person intentionally kills another with approval from society
a person intentionally kills a lot of people with approval from society.
We label the first "Murder in the First Degree"
The second we label "execution" and disagree as to whether it should exist
The third we call war and celebrate the actions of those who participate on the side we support and decry those who perform identical actions on behalf of the side we oppose. The side that prevails proclaims its actions just.
The logic of the situation eludes me.
