Please recommend 1TB USB drive

So I need to buy a high-capacity USB drive, at least 1TB, ideally with a larger capacity. My objective is to encrypt it and carry it with me everywhere. I was thinking of a USB drive, but the read-write speeds on a flash drive may mean it takes forever to write 1TB of data. So I'm also open to any other thingie with at least 1TB capacity - that I can carry around with me everywhere. Something smaller than a portable hard drive would be good.

Any recommendations, suggestions? Please also chime in with brands I should stay away from, any other helpful tips, etc. Thank you much!

You could also make your own with an enclosure and bare ssd but they won't be as rugged although cheaper.

The sandisk one has been as low as $119.99 recently so watch for price drops.

There are lots of different ones and they all should be decent eg sabrent rocket, samsung, wd etc.

Smallest Option: It shouldn't take forever and a day to write 1 TB of data to it.

If you can afford it, go for a USB3 solution with the drive being SSD. I run a full Windows 10 OS from on such drive. Using a regular HD, the same setup is painfully slow, so certainly very different. Now, if you are working with very large files and random access is not a priority, you can get away with a regular HD.

P.S. Just sharing my experience. Be sure to research accordingly for the intended use
