Other animals are stronger and can run faster, but humans can run longer and farther than other animals, and thus tire them out, kill, and eat them. Of course, persistence hunting is no longer required, for we just fence in animals, then kill and eat them.
And...
Given that most everyone in this part of the world does their 'hunting' only for neat little packages - there are all too many who somehow become adults not even caring to know that what they eat was walking around before it got packaged !!
Reminds me of a movie scene or three where one kid asks the other f they are enjoying their dead cow burger and the sputtering gross out that inevitably follows.
